feat(files): the files layer — schema, router, media route (SUPER-2077) - #7019
Conversation
Keys, manifest shape, HMAC view tickets, URL builders, the page CSP and script injection for the usercontent origin, plus the comment runtime moved out of packages/ui so the Worker can serve it.
One origin per page on *.supersetusercontent.com. Resolves a per-slug manifest from R2, verifies view tickets for non-public pages, applies one content policy for every viewer, injects the comment runtime, and serves thumbnails. No API call at request time.
Publish writes the version to R2, then the page's manifest, then queues a thumbnail; visibility and shared-version changes rewrite the manifest; delete removes everything. pull returns a presigned URL. Thumbnails are captured by Cloudflare Browser Rendering through the usercontent origin.
Viewers load the page's own URL in a sandboxed iframe with allow-same-origin and check the frame's origin on every message. Removes srcdoc, the superset-page:// scheme, the pageContent router and the iframe thumbnail cache; the grid shows the server-captured thumbnail.
Pages move to <label>.pages.supersetusercontent.com (Advanced Certificate Manager covers the second-level wildcard). Tickets carry a kind so a page ticket can never open something else, and the Worker accepts a previous secret during rotation.
Keeps everything #6932 and #6952 added — comments sidebar, watch state, owner and delete in the grid, scroll restore, commentAuthor — and drops only what the usercontent origin supersedes: the desktop page.content and page.thumbnail routers, the superset-page:// and superset-thumb:// protocol handlers, and serveHtml. The comment runtime already carried main's restore-scroll changes in @superset/shared; CommentsSidebar now imports its types from there.
The Worker is apps/content and the page id is the host label:
<pageId>.pages.supersetusercontent.com. Storage keys mirror the URL —
pages/<pageId>/manifest.json, versions/<n>/index.html,
versions/<n>/thumbnail.jpg — with the version number reserved before the
bytes move; a concurrent publish collides on the unique index (or finds
the target page changed) and retries under the next number. Paths and
names are readable throughout: /versions/<n>/, ?ticket=, claims
{kind, pageId, version, exp}; /versions/<n> without a slash redirects so
relative references resolve. The Worker binds the private bucket
(PRIVATE → superset-private); the API takes R2_PRIVATE_BUCKET.
setSharedVersion queues a thumbnail for the newly served version, and
the job skips captures that already exist.
A private document now carries its ticket as a path segment — /versions/3/~<ticket>/ — so when directory publish lands, every relative reference resolves under the prefix and inherits the ticket; no cookie, which Safari would block in our third-party iframe. The query form stays for thumbnails and back-compat, and slashless forms redirect. Ticket expiry is rounded to a window (an hour for the served alias, a day for a pinned version), so identical claims give an identical URL within the window and browser caches finally hit; the thumbnail ticket in list is version-bound to get the day. Responses carry Superset-Storage-Key (the cache key a client should use, never the URL) and Origin-Agent-Cluster: ?1 while the PSL entry propagates; private thumbnails cache for a day. list and pull return storageKey; previews point at superset-private-dev with dev credentials; the desktop raises Chromium's disk cache to 1 GiB so page video can cache at all. Ticket verifier and URL tests cover the new forms.
…up-all-the-cloudflare-domain-infrastructure-for-security
The bundled-skills test added on main enforces the repo prose rule on plugins/superset/skills/page/SKILL.md; one em dash from the earlier merge resolution tripped it.
An unset GitHub Actions var arrives as an empty string, which `??` does
not catch, and `new URL("")` throws before Next loads the config — the
preview Deploy Web failure. Fall back on empty, not just undefined.
The spike predated main's i18n sweep of the page route, so the merge kept a hardcoded "You" and stranded web.page.anonymousUser in sixteen catalogs — which is exactly what the Lint job's extract diff said.
Architectural support for attachments on issues and chat, and the file substrate page assets stand on. Bytes go direct to R2 by presigned PUT (1 GiB, signature covering type and length); files.complete is the gate a presigned PUT cannot be — HEAD confirms the size, a ranged read sniffs the real type (magic bytes; anything that smells like a scriptable document is named one), and only then is the file ready. The serve-time policy keys on the sniffed type, carried in a day-rounded file ticket so the media route needs no database: HTML and XML always download, SVG renders only as a subresource image, PDF and media inline, everything under nosniff and a sandbox CSP. media.supersetusercontent.com joins the Worker with Range support so video seeks; access always derives from a readable parent via the polymorphic attachments table (page_version now, the other kinds when their surfaces ship — refusing loudly until then). Pending rows older than a day are swept, objects first, via a QStash-verified job. No UI ships here by design.

Estimated code review effort: 4 (Complex) | ~60 minutes Merge Risk: 🟡 Moderate · up to This PR adds ticket-gated file uploads and media delivery and extends page deletion to remove attachments and unreferenced files. If cleanup fails after the page is deleted, the operation can still report success while file metadata or bytes remain and the uploader may retain signing access; a retryable recovery path or explicit owner acceptance is needed before treating this as fully merge-ready. 🔒 Security & Privacy | 🟠 Major | ⚡ Quick win
Prevent cached media responses from outliving access. private, max-age=86400, immutable lets a previously fetched ticketed file remain available from the browser after ticket expiry, deletion, or parent-access revocation. Set Cache-Control: no-store, or cap max-age to the ticket's remaining lifetime if this access window is intentional.

Clean up attachments when deleting pages.
The page deletion flow deletes pages and cascades to page_versions, but attachments.parentId has no foreign key to page_versions. The attachment therefore remains, along with its files row and files/<id>/original object. Delete these attachments in the parent-deletion flow, and delete the file row and object only when no attachments reference the file.

Verify the uploaded SHA-256 before setting ready.
complete validates only object size and content type before setting status to "ready". A same-size object with a different digest can receive incorrect sha256 metadata.
Calculate the stored object digest and reject completion when it differs from row.sha256. Add an integration test for this case.

- page delete now removes page_version attachment rows (no FK carries the cascade) and deletes files — rows and bytes — that no other attachment references. - the pending-file sweep claims rows first (guarded on pending) and deletes objects after, and complete's ready-flip is guarded on pending: the two can no longer race a file into ready-with-no-bytes or deleted-but-served. - a ticketed media response may live in the browser cache only until its ticket expires, mirroring the thumbnail rule.
Rebase + bot review triage
Rebased onto main after #6954's squash-merge: absorbed the
apps/usercontentrename (media host ported by hand — git kept both directories), theframe.hostname, main's publish/delete/manifest review fixes, and regenerated the migration as0101_add_files_and_attachmentson the merged schema.CodeRabbit findings fixed: page delete now removes
page_versionattachment rows and orphaned files (rows + bytes; no FK carries the cascade); the pending-file sweep claims rows before deleting objects andcomplete's ready-flip is guarded onpending(no more ready-with-no-bytes race); ticketed media responses cache only until their ticket expires, mirroring the thumbnail rule.Dismissed: full-content SHA-256 verification at
complete— the ratified verification design is size + magic-byte sniff (decision 8); the client-supplied hash only feeds that client's own republish dedup, so a false hash poisons nobody else, and hashing 1 GiB server-side per upload buys nothing for that.Links
